I’m a huge fan of dessert dips and easy recipes, and this Halloween themed marshmallow fruit dip fits both of those nicely! It’s perfect for your next Halloween party, any Halloween themed baby showers, or just to enjoy with some spooky after school snacks! I know I’m adding it to all of my holiday tables at this year’s classroom Halloween party! The kids will go absolutely bonkers over this creamy dip! And me? I’ll be bonkers over the fact that the total time to make this is like five minutes tops! So next time you invite friends over for a little Halloween trivia or some of these Halloween games, make a bowl full of this dessert dip (with or without the monster additions), and to share! You could even just do a whole dip spread with bowls full of this caramel apple dip, this brownie batter dip, and even this dunkaroo dip! Then just serve with large fruit trays and snack trays that people can choose for dipping. Anyway, back this delicious monster dip! It really is the perfect dessert to have in your back pocket if you’re a sweet tooth or have one in your family!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Simple ingredients – this classic marshmallow fruit dip is made of ingredients you can find in any grocery store or probably already in your house! And unlike some of the dips out there (aka my cake tree dip), you don’t even need Cool Whip! Versatile – while I made my dip look like a monster with green food coloring and candy eyeballs, you could easily leave those out and just use it as a fluffy marshmallow cream cheese fruit dip instead! Or if you are doing one of these pink girl baby shower themes, dye it pink and add candy rattles. There are a lot of options! Fluffy – the marshmallow fluff combined with the cream cheese mixture makes this a super fluffy and delicious dip! Many of my other dessert dips are creamy but none are quite as fluffy!

Ingredient Notes

Marshmallow fluff – don’t try to substitute marshmallows or mini marshmallows, they don’t work the same. And it is called a monster marshmallow fluff fruit dip – it needs the fluff! M&Ms – while I think these are a fun addition, especially for the Halloween monster version, they are optional. I just like the color and texture they add to the dip. Plus, chocolate! Cream cheese – I recommend full fat cream cheese and make sure it’s at room temperature, not chilled. If it’s still chilled, it won’t mix into the creamy fluffy texture you want. Also, I always prefer Philadelphia cream cheese but generic is fine in a pinch! Candy eyeballs – I used a combination of mini, medium, and jumbo candy eyeballs to make it look like a monster. If you’re not doing the monster version, skip these. You could also just choose one size if that’s easier. Food coloring – I just used a few drops of a regular green food coloring to get the ooey gooey green color. I used about the same amount as I did for my cauldron cupcakes! Salt – this one is also optional, but I like to add a touch of salt to fight the sweetness of this dip. You can omit it or add it or even just half it!

how to Make marshmallow dip

Making a smooth dip like this marshmallow dip is pretty easy but does require a couple of things – patience and an electric mixer! Okay you can mix things like hand or use a hand mixer if you want, but I prefer electric so you can get this fluffy marshmallow dip as fluffy and smooth as possible! With an electric mixer or by hand, beat the cream cheese at medium speed until smooth in a large bowl. If you’re using regular cream cheese at room temperature, this should only take a minute or two. If your cream cheese is still chilled, it may take a couple minutes longer. Keep mixing until it’s completely smooth. Then spoon in the marshmallow fluff, salt, and green food coloring. Combine cream cheese mixture with the other ingredients then beat again on medium speed until smooth and combined. Next if you plan to use M&M’s to make your special treat, fold them in here. If you’re not using M&M’s you can skip this step! Put the dip into the fridge and chill for at least twenty minutes but longer is just fine! It just needs to be at least twenty minutes to give the dip a chance to set! Right before you serve the dip add in the candy eyeballs for a fun Halloween effect! It makes the best fruit dip recipe just that more fun (plus kids will want to eat fruit!). Serve the dip with pretzels, graham crackers, your favorite fresh fruit (fresh strawberries are my favorite!), cookies, or anything else that sounds good! You could even serve this alongside a whole bunch of other things on a Halloween charcuterie board or even a monster board! I can already picture it – monster cinnamon rolls, monster cookies, Frankenstein Halloween pretzels, monster cookie sandwiches, and this monster dip! Or just stick with the dip and dippers – that’s always a good time too!

Expert Tips

Use full fat cream cheese for a creamier dip. Reduced fat cream cheese will taste okay, but it won’t be nearly as creamy as you really want! Fold the M&Ms into the dip instead of beating so that you don’t end up with a brown dip. The candy coating on the outside will leave little streaks as you fold them in, adding to the fun Halloween colors! Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. I do not recommend freezing. Allow the dip to come to room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving if serving directly from the fridge. That’ll make it easier to scoop and dip with your favorites! Change out the M&Ms for different colors and varieties or mix it up completely and use chocolate chips (like in this cannoli dip) or chopped up pieces of candy bars!
